Company History

The Rebound pedigree comes courtesy of Managing Director, Simon Thake, who formed Freeway Electronics Ltd in 1989 and successfully secured its position as one of the largest independent distributors of electronic components in the UK, prior to its acquisition by the German group, ACG (now Azego AG), in 2000.

After leaving ACG in 2001, Simon Thake along with ACG UK's Sales Director Steve Madley joined forces to form Rebound Technology in 2003. Rebound Technology saw the reuniting of many Freeway veterans and benefits vastly from the insight, customer focus and work ethic that made Freeway Electronics a major force within component distribution.

November 2005 saw an unusual turn of events, with Rebound Technology acquiring Azego Technology Services (UK) Limited, the UK arm of Azego AG.

In May 2006 Rebound opened a new sales office in Germany, with the view of replicating the structure and success of the UK

The acquisition of Azego Technology Services (UK) Limited and the opening of our office in Germany were both strategic moves in keeping with Rebound's overall strategy to become Europe's premier independent distributor of electronic components.

Between May 2006 and April 2009 Rebound opened offices in Poland, Romania, Hungary, Spain, Hong Kong, Shenzhen, South Africa, the United States and the Czech Republic. It also opened offices in the North and South of England.

Never a company to stand still, Rebound has moved it Head Office to a new state of the art facility in Newbury, Berkshire and the warehouse and logistics facilities have relocated to new premises in Thatcham, Berkshire.  These new units support the Group's distribution requirements and worldwide network of sales offices as well as being the administrative centre of the Group.

CEO Simon Thake says:

"The key to our success has been our rapid growth and ability to manage it effectively".
